It will be cloudy and cold with rain in Belgrade today. The maximum temperature will not exceed 10 degrees Celsius. The northwesterly wind will be increasing. And that would be a common forecast for any slightly cooler April day.

However... During the evening and night, an even stronger cooling and an increase in the intensity of the rain is expected, and with a further drop in air temperature, the rain will turn into sleet and wet snow in the capital as well.

At the end of the day and during the evening, the northerly wind will continue to strengthen and occasional stormy gusts are expected.

Heavy snow will fall in Belgrade on Tuesday night and the next morning, with the formation of a snow cover. 5 to 15 centimeters of snow is expected in the lower parts of the city, about 20 centimeters in the higher parts on the southern edges, and more on Mt. Avala.

The snow will be accompanied by a very strong northerly wind.

The temperature on Tuesday will range from 0 to 2 degrees Celsius.

During the day, the intensity of snow and sleet will weaken, as will the wind, but a complete cessation of precipitation is not expected before Wednesday.

Watch where you park, this snow can break branches

As the snow will be very wet and heavy, there is the possibility that trees will break under its weight, which requires caution.

Caution will also be required while driving.

Somewhat warmer weather for the weekend

It will be dry and slightly warmer on Thursday, but still very cold for this time of year.

Friday and the weekend bring another wave of precipitation, mostly in the form of rain, and there may be sleet first on Friday.

During the weekend, there will be a further slight increase in air temperature, but it will still be cold.

The heavy snow that will fall on Tuesday will melt in the second half of next week.

The next week will be much more stable, but still with temperatures below the average for April - around 12-13 degrees Celsius.

Given that the average maximum temperature for the beginning of April in Belgrade is around 15-16 degrees, it will be around 15 degrees lower than average on Tuesday, and five to 10 degrees lower until the first half of April.

This will be the third April in a row that sees the snow in Belgrade. In 2021, snow fell for the first time in April in Belgrade after 25 years.

If the current forecasts come true, the record for snow in Belgrade for April may be broken in the coming days.

At the same time, the first half of April will be one of the coldest in recent decades.
