Are you aware how much the world has changed during the reign of Milo Djukanovic, that is, all the things that happened during those 30+ years? Well, let's try to summarize and briefly list just some of the drastic changes that have taken place in the meantime...

To begin with, at the time when Milo Djukanovic stepped onto the political scene, back in 1989 (when he was a member of the Communist Youth and one of the leaders of the socialist republic of Montenegro, then a part of Yugoslavia), things like Walkman were popular in the world (i.e., the great-granddaddy of mobile application like Spotify), there were five-speed and ten-speed bicycles, there were clubs where young people had fun playing pinball, billiards and arcade video games, children played football and other outdoors sports, while board games were played inside their homes, unlike today, when they spend their days staring at their phones and computers.

Most of these things are unknown to the children and youth of today, and in the meantime so many changes have taken place that it is difficult to list them. And all this during the time in power of just one man.

Thus, for example, the beginning of the 90s was marked by the now forgotten Discman. For those who's memory is not great, or those who never even "met him," it was the successor to Walkman which, instead of audio-cassettes (another relic from the past, and from the time Milo Djukanovic started his political career at the top), used compact discs, or CDs for short.

In the meantime, even CDs lost the battle and disappeared from the scene - but Djukanovic outlived them.

Same as the DVDs and the long extinct floppy disks. Which today, by the way, are primarily remembered by those who are in their 50s or 60s.

Speaking of computer technology, the internet also appeared in the meantime. Yes, that very common thing today did not even exist in this form at the beginning of the career of the longest-lived European ruler, who on Sunday lost the presidential election in Montenegro.

The internet was just starting, which will make anyone who reminisces those times shudder remembering the incredibly slow connection that would break at a whim. They also remember what it was like to establish a connection with a 56K (landline) modem that sputtered and screeched while contacting the provider.

Downloading any material larger than 1 megabyte was often mission impossible, unlike today's all-too-common real-time streaming of movies and TV.

But let's move away from computer tech and focus other technologies...

For car lovers, one of the best big picture representations of the duration of Milo Djukanovic's reign will be - VW Golf. In 1989, Volkswagen was still selling Golf 2. Today, the 8 model is around. Enough said, in terms of comparison, right?

Also, at that time, even NASA did not dream that in the meantime they would manage to send this many rovers to other planets, among which the most famous are "Opportunity," "Curiosity" and "Spirit."

For fans of domestic cinema, here are a few facts that will also perfectly explain how long Djukanovic managed to stay in power: at the time he entered the political scene, Milos Bikovic was only a few months old, and Milan Maric was not even born.

Also in that time, Montenegrin actor Zarko Lausevic managed to go to prison for double murder, get released, leave the country and go to the US, write a book, return to the country, shoot several films...

As far as sports, Zeljko Obradovic managed to win nine European championship titles, unmached in the same period of time by any other basketball coach. And there are only a few outside basketball who have succeeded at something like this.

During these 35 years in the country (more precisely, in the countries - considering that in the meanwhile Serbia was part of the Federal Socialist Republic of Yugoslavia, the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, and the Union of Serbia and Montenegro) and in the world (it's hard to remember how many countries just broke up and which new ones were created), so many things happened that it is really hard to list them.

And so add in the comments what comes to your mind when you think about the drastic changes that the planet went through during the reign of only one man, Milo Djukanovic. And there have certainly been many.
