Snow grains falling in Belgrade
This is a specific meteorological phenomenon called snow grains
Belgraders were surprised today when they saw a proper blizzard starting from their windows and balconies.
But, at plus 9 degrees, it was impossible for it to snow, even though the cold wind blew as well.
So what was this, then?
You certainly see clearly, there is precipitation and it is white in color, but it is neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow.
It is a specific meteorological phenomenon called snow grains.
These are pieces of ice that resemble hailstones, but do not pose any danger to crops.
Namely, at this time of the year, hailstorms are very rare and it is much more common that snow grains will fall.
"The sun was shining, suddenly everything went dark in the sky and white snowflakes started to fall," said one of our readers.
Until the end of the day, a similar phenomenon is expected in places, accompanied by a very strong northwesterly wind. During the evening, the precipitation will stop and the wind will weaken.
