"He's abused his daughter for 8 years, beat his wife regularly, we were afraid": Neighbors on Zvezdara horror
"We knew a child was inside, but no one dared to report it, we were afraid..."
The news that an 8-year-old girl was found "barely alive" in an apartment in Belgrade's Zvezdara municipality - and who, as Telegraf has been told, was abused by her father Uros Pasalic (37) and kept locked up, has shaken Serbia.
The neighbors of "the father from hell" they say that he has been living there for 10 years and that the apartment is rented, that everyone knew there was a child inside, but that they were afraid to do anything.
"He and that woman, Ivana (45), who lived with him, they are both drug addicts, we knew that a child was inside, but no one dared to report it. We were afraid... Two weeks ago we heard strange noises, and then we saw the blonde walking with bruises, it was dark, but we think it was Ivana. He's lived in that apartment for 10 years, he rents it. We were all afraid of him. An ambulance took the child away three days ago, she was in a visibly bad shape. Terrible...", say the neighbors.
A manhunt was launched for Uros Pasalic (37) from Zvezdara after, as Telegraf has learned, his wife Ivana L. (45) came to the police station with a broken nose and bruises under her eyes and reported him for violence.
"She (the woman) came all beaten up and bloodied. She reported that Uros beat her, that the violence has been ongoing, and that there is an 8-year-old girl in the apartment he keeps as a slave. The police from Palilula went to the scene and encountered a horrific sight. The child has been rescued, while he ran way," our source from the investigation of this case told us.
The victim told the officers that Uros hit her in the nose with his head, and that's how she suffered the fracture.
First Basic Public Prosecutor's Office reacts
After the First Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade was informed about the violence against a partner and a child that happened in Zvezdara, it ordered the suspect to be detained, however, as he had fled, so a warrant was issued for him.
