Top traffic police officer's arguments aimed at reducing prejudices against women drivers
"Most men and not a small number of women believe that men are better drivers"
The head of the traffic police department of the Serbian Interior Ministry (MUP), Slavisa Lakicevic, said today that women are safer drivers than men, because according to data from the last five years, they caused only 16 percent of traffic accidents, while 84 percent were caused by male drivers.

Lakicevic told Tanjug that about 34 percent of women in Serbia have a driver's license and that in the previous period they caused 16 percent of accidents with material damage or minor bodily injury, and 7 percent with a fatal outcome.
On the other hand, Lakicevic points out, men caused 93 percent of traffic accidents with a fatal outcome.
"The fact is that women are safer drivers than men. We need to break the stereotype that exists in our country, because most men and not a small number of women believe that men are better drivers," said Lakicevic, reports Tanjug.
He added that women are safer drivers because they generally drive more slowly and carefully.
