The palm trees of Kalemegdan in Belgrade are still in their winter clothes: "Dressed up" from root to top
This is a species that can survive even at minus 15 degrees
The palm trees, which were planted two and a half years ago on the plateau in front of the Cvijeta Zuzoric Pavilion in Belgrade's Kalemegdan, are "dressed in winter clothes" and are waiting for nicer days to decorate the park again with their branches.
For the first time, six trees of the species Trachycarpus fortunei, imported from Spain, were planted in a public park in Belgrade, and they all survived.
Two rows of palm trees with three in each were created to accentuate the entrance to Kalemegdan Park and the approach to the pavilion.
However, even though this winter was not severe, this "clothing" that protects not only the branches, but also the trunk and roots, ensured that the palm trees did not freeze.
Still, this is a species that can survive even at minus 15 degrees Celsius.
