The Monday, which all fans of Novak Djokovic, including himself, had been waiting for a long time, is here - the best tennis player in the world broke the absolute record and overtook Steffi Graf for the number of weeks spent as the number one in the ATP rankings!

Novak started his 378th week at the top spot with 6,980 points and thus finally left behind the former German tennis player (377) who was in the first place, counting both women's and men's competitions, for years.

In men's singles, Djokovic broke the record of Roger Federer in 2021, who stayed at the top for 310 weeks, and likely the record of Steffi Graf would have "fallen" earlier if it wasn't for what happened to Novak in Australia last year and if the points at Wimbledon later in the summer were counted.

"It is surreal to think that I spent so long at the top of the ATP rankings. To be compared to someone like Steffi Graf, one of the best in history, and other names of our sport is something I am proud of," Djokovic said on Sunday before the start of the tournament in Dubai.

Even before the defeat of Carlos Alcaraz in Rio de Janeiro, it was known that Djokovic would be at the top, because the Spaniard would have only be able to equal the number of points with a possible triumph in Brazil. And in that case, as we already reported, Nole would still be the number one today,

As it is, Alacaraz remained in second place with 6,780 points. Tsitsipas is third with 5,805, followed by Casper Rudd in 4th place (5,515), as well as Taylor Fritz in fifth (3,660).

Rublev, Medvedev, Nadal, Auger-Aliassime and Rune follow, with a note that this is Rafa's worst ranking in the last six years.
