The Hague-based Specialist Chambers for the crimes committed by the so-called Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) have extended the detention of the former leaders of that organization, Kadri Veseli and Hashim Thaci, who stand accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity, the Albanian language site Reporteri said on Sunday.

The same decision was made regarding other KLA leaders who are detained; Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi. They have been held in The Hague for two years, on charges of war crimes.

The reasons for extending this measure are the risk of escape and the possibility of influencing witnesses, the court in The Hague announced.
