Powerful message from Novi Sad mayor: We lost 3 bridges in NATO bombing, today we are building 3 new ones
We used barges to cross over to the Srem side and return back to the city
The mayor of Novi Sad, Milan Djuric, has spoken about the construction of three new bridges, and yesterday pointed out that the building of the bridge that the Evropa Boulevard leads to, and the bridge in the Fruska Gora Corridor is proceeding at the planned speed.
"In 1999, we lost all three bridges in the NATO bombing. We didn't have any bridges. We used barges to cross over to the Srem side and return back to the city. In 2018, we restored the third bridge, and now we are building three new ones. It's good that our country is so strong that it is finances the two bridges which are the most expensive," stated Djuric and added:
"The bridge within the Evropa Boulevard is a city bridge on which there will be no heavy traffic such as trucks, and then within the Fruska Gora Corridor trucks will be allowed, which means that in this way we are displacing heavy traffic from the city of Novi Sad.
The third, a beautiful pedestrian and bicycle bridge, we are financing together with the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina. I enjoy it when we solve a problem. It is the most beautiful thing, which gives you the strength and energy to invest more effort and energy each new day to finishing some really important project, from the smallest to the biggest," the Novi Sad mayor stated on Instagram.
