Acting director of JP Posta Srbije (Serbia's public postal service) Zoran Djordjevic has confirmed that Posta will be transformed into a joint-stock company in order to function much better and adapt to new market circumstances.

"The new company that will grow out of this company going forward should be a big giant like Telekom, a huge potential for our country," said Djordjevic and added that seven or eight months ago he had the first serious conversation on the topic of transforming Posta into a joint-stock company.

"My wish, and the wish of the minister of finance, is to do it in the best possible way, to show what that looks like. Posta Srbije is being transformed in order to function much better, to adapt to new market conditions and to be a modern company. The employees will be the least burdened, the management, the government more, because there are many segments that should be done - from strategic documents, normative and legal acts, reorganization, systematization, job evaluation, technology and digitization," Djordjevic told RTS.

Asked if there is the possibility of privatization, he said that there is none.

"Once it is transformed, the state will be the 100 percent shareholder. This transformation is taking place along the lines of other western countries such as Austria, Germany and Slovenia. It is a great potential in the hands of the state, because it is important for the functioning of the country," noted Djordjevic.
