There was a series of price increases the first day after Croatia switched to the euro, Croatian media reports.

That is why Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic called a meeting with relevant ministers and inspection and tax authorities.

In a message on Twitter, he stated that he had convened the meeting related to further activities in order to protect consumers from unjustified price increases.

"The introduction of the euro is not a reason to increase prices of goods and services," said Plenkovic.

During the meeting between the ministers and heads of the Tax Administration, the Customs Administration and the State Inspectorate, it was agreed that Minister of Economy Davor Filipovic would invite representatives of retail chains to a meeting.

Index.hr reports that this meeting should be held today.
