Serbian ambassador to Italy: Italians honored Mihajlovic as if he was Italian

He received exceptional treatment, as if he was one of the most respected people from Italy

Goran Aleksic, the ambassador of Serbia to Italy, described what kind of honor the Italians showed to late Sinisa Mihajlovic during the funeral of the legendary footballer.

"The body of Sinisa MIhajlovic was in the Assembly of the City of Rome, he received exceptional attention from the Italian public, both political and sports. At ten o'clock the farewell began. His family was present, as well as Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Meloni, the speaker of the parliament, and a large number of sports figures. The entire Italian press covered (the funeral) of our famous athlete," Aleksic told K1 TV.

The Serbian ambassador also said that this part of Rome was closed because of the funeral.

"He received exceptional treatment, as if he was one of the most respected people from Italy. Yesterday's ceremony was also attended by Serbian Minister of Sports Zoran Gajic on behalf of the president of Serbia, and by a delegation from the Football Association of Serbia," Aleksic told K1 TV.
