The US ambassador to Serbia, Christopher Hill, said today in Nis that he does not see the possibility of a military solution to the situation in the north of Kosovo, as well as that it is necessary to build peace and stability there, which can be achieved by establishing the Community of Serb Municipalities (ZSO), reports Tanjug.

"Of course, the Government of Serbia has the right to address KFOR, but this remains a political issue and therefore requires a political solution. We need to calm the situation, so that members of the Serb community living in that area can have clear expectations about what their lives will look like in the future," Hill said.

Addressing the media in the city of Nis, where he met with Mayor Dragana Sotirovski, the US ambassador said that "the creation of the Community of Serb Municipalities will happen."

"As Mr. Escobar made clear yesterday, that will happpen. The formation of the ZSO will create the conditions for a return to normality, through which peace and stability can be established in the area where these people have been living for centuries, and that is what everyone really wants," said Ambassador Hill.

As part of his visit to Nid, Hill visited the renovated social welfare center Mara and the Faculty of Law of the Nis University.
