Serbian-Croatian gang falls in Athens: They smuggled drugs in detergent boxes, Greek teachers also arrested

Members of a Serbian-Croatian cartel were arrested for drug smuggling as part of a major operation in Athens, the police announced.

Several teachers from Athens were among those arrested. This cartel is suspected of smuggling large quantities of cocaine and cannabis from Spain. Gang members are suspected of smuggling drugs from Spain in detergent boxes.

The nembers of the criminal group were arrested in cooperation with the US DEA, which provided the (Greek) police with information about the suspects. 11 people were arrested in the operation, including six who came from Serbia and Croatia, three Greek men and two Greek women, Greek media write.

Among the arrested Greeks are teachers from Athens. The police also said that the teachers were mainly used to store and deal the drugs.

The Greek police have expanded the investigation and will now, in cooperation with police forces from several countries around the world, investigate whether the members of this gang were involved in other criminal acts.
