The Municipal HQ for Emergency Situations of Vrbas held a meeting after receiving information that a black panther had been seen in the territory of that municipality. New videos have appeared on social networks that allegedly show the animal, and some media claim that it was also spotted in Srbobran.
The meeting of the HQ for Emergency Situations, after information about the appearance of a black panther in that town, was attended by representatives of all competent services, the Association of Hunters and members of the Vrbas Police Station, reports Politika.
"The municipality of Vrbas will additionally strengthen coordination with neighboring local self-governments, that is, district and provincial authorities, so that the reaction is as effective and up-to-date as possible," Predrag Rojevic, president of the municipality of Vrbas, said after the meeting.
He explained that the Association of Hunters considers it unlikely that a black panther has arrived in the territory of the municipality of Vrbas, but even so, the information about it is "being verified very carefully and responsibly."
"Considering that this information caused concern among a part of the public, we involved all reference and relevant services and institutions. Their position is that there are many illogical things about the video that was published on the internet and that the probability of the video being authentic is low, but the verification of this information has been approached with great care and responsibility. If the hunting organization and other professional services assess that there is a need for this, a search will be organized to dispel all doubts," said Rojevic, Dnevnik reports.
In the meantime, another video appeared on social networks, which is claimed to show a black panther in Vrbas. On it, you can see something that looks like a big black cat, and the location is Slajz in Vrbas.
Also, some media published photos that they claim show a black panther in Srbobran, which is located about 11 kilometers from Vrbas, but is separated by the Novi Sad-Subotica highway, so the animal would have to cross that busy road to arrive from Vrbas to Srbobran.
Previously eyewitnesses first reported that they saw a black panther in the vicinity of Apatin, near Sonta and near the Junakovic spa.
Locals suspect that this is the black panther that allegedly escaped captivity in Hungary last year, near Serbia's northern border, where, as Hungarian media claim, it was also recorded by surveillance cameras.
