KFOR Commander Angelo Michele Ristuccia met last night with the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Pristina Provisional Institutions Xhelal Svecla, with whom he discussed the current situation in Kosovo and Metohija and tensions due to the failure to reach an agreement in Brussels on the issue of license plates.

Ristuccia appealed on all parties to avoid any actions that could lead to a worsening of the situation, KFOR announced.

He called on all parties to act responsibly and to actively participate in maintaining security.

He stressed that it was important to avoid any new escalation, after the tensions in August.

Ristuccia remains in close contact with all the main interlocutors, including the commander of the EU Mission EULEX, representatives of the provisional Pristina institutions and security organizations in Pristina, as well as the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Army, according to the statement.

It adds that KFOR remains vigilant and continues to implement its mandate within the UN, with all its available capacities, for a safe environment and freedom of movement for everyone in Kosovo, according to UN Security Council Resolution 1244 from 1999.
