No agreement, difficult days ahead of us: Vucic after urgent Brussels meeting on Kosovo and Metohija

An urgent meeting within the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina was held at the invitation of Borrell

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic arrived early this morning in Brussels, where he met with EU High Representative of Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell and EU Special Representative Miroslav Lajcak. The meetings lasted for hours, and finally, the president announced the outcome.

"For reasons unclear to me, we failed to reach absolutely no agreement, the Serbian side was completely constructive and we accepted the amended texts 10 times, while the Albanian side did not want to accept anything for a single second, they always added something that was clearly not possible.

I will address our people. Sleepless nights and many difficult days are ahead of us, but we will listen to what will be the advice and demands of the high envoys. It has been requested that we do not issue new KM licnese plates, we will respect that. We will see what the other side will do. I think that today everyone in the EU is clear about who was constructive and wanted an agreement."

"So what we insisted on is that that agreements signed on be respected.

I don't think we have a tragedy, but it won't be easy in the coming period. Either tonight or tomorrow during the day, I will address the citizens of Serbia, and I want to tell the people of Kosovo and Metohija that we will be stand with them."

On Monday, an urgent meeting within the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina was held at the invitation of EU's Josep Borrell, who was to have meetings with the prime minister of Pristina institutions, Albin Kurti, and with Serbian President Vucic. Afterwards, a joint meeting of officials was planned.

Borrell said the previous night that it was necessary to stop solving crisis situations and move towards normalization of relations.
