Serbian Miladin Rakicevic (59), nicknamed Rakas, has been found dead in Cangas de Onis in Spain.

The body of Miladin Rakicevic was pulled out by the Civil Guard, after neighbors saw it floating in the River Sella, reports La nueva Espana.

According to them, the body was pulled out of the river yesterday around 11:20 am, after a judge and a coroner arrived at the scene.

An autopsy has been ordered, although the police doubt that this was a violent death.

"The news that the body of Rakas, whom everyone knew, was found in the river left the city where he lived in shock," it is reported.

Known as Rakas, he was highly respected in the town of Cangas, where he arrived in the early 1990s when the war in Yugoslavia broke out. He was born in Serbia, and after arriving in Spain first lived in Toledo.

"He always worked as hard as ten men, he worked as a coach and as a driver," said the president of the community where he lived, according to La Nueva Espana.

It was because of his association with a the folklore group that he arrived in Cangas de Onis. In the middle of the war in the former Yugoslavia, he did not want to return to his country, and when his residence permit in Spain expired, the football club Canicas hired him as a worker so that he could extend his stay in Spain.

"He was very hardworking and very active, he was a good neighbor. In Canicas, he worked both as a fitness coach and coached junior categories. In the city of Cangas, he was always involved in sports and also worked as a monitor in the Sports Committee and in the residence. He was a great man and a top athlete," said a colleague.

Rakas was married to a local woman, Laura Valdes, and is survived by three children.

His funeral will take place this afternoon at 5 pm.
