Vucic on assassination and Lalic's testimony: Will someone apologize, I never wanted to wear bulletproof vest

"I said that I would never wear a bulletproof vest in my country, and to hide from my people - I've no intention! As long as I am alive, I will go among my people, I will not hide. What kind of a country is it then, if the mafia can kill the head of state," Aleksandar Vucic said today

President Aleksandar Vucic spoke today about the fact that the cooperating witness Srdjan Lalic admitted in court that Veljko Belivuk's criminal clan planned to assassinate him, noting that some people had laughed about it, so he asked if anyone would now apologize for that.

"Will someone apologize? And has anyone apologized for the three years of lies about the Jovanjica (drug affair)? None of you experienced it, my family has and when everything was proven to be a notorious lie, there was not even an apology. Do you think that somebody will say sorry for saying we were taking someone to Ritopek (the clan's base), and I think I must have been the only one who wasn't there," Vucic said ironically, and added:

"We now have new information, now we have confirmations and we know who participated in those stories. Both in the first attempt and in subsequent attempts. At the time I turned to the guys, during the opening of the monument to Stefan Nemanja, there was Minister of Internal Affairs Vulin, and I said to him, 'What is wrong with you, why are you shaking with fear'. Of course, it was a joke, he didn't shake, he is a serious man," Vucic said, according to Blic.

He also added that he will never wear a bulletproof vest in his own country and hide from his own people.

"I've no intention! As long as I am alive, I will go among my people, I will not hide. What kind of a country is it then, if the mafia can kill the head of state," Aleksandar Vucic said today.
