They took off their uniforms and received highest awards: "Thank you for the love you showed the Serb people"
Thank you for keeping peace and stability. Thanks for the faith. Thanks for the hope. Thank you for the love you have shown towards the Serb people, Kosovo and Metohija - said the president
President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic received today at 11 am Captain Nenad Djuric, who was the director of the Mitrovica North Regional Police Directorate, and Captain Aleksandar Filipovic, who was the head of the Mitrovica North Regional Police Directorate's operative branch.
On that occasion, President Vucic presented Captain Nenad Djuric with the Order of Merit for Defense and Security, First Class, which is given for above-average, exemplary and honorable performance of duties and tasks in the fields of defense and security, while Captain Aleksandar Filipovic received the Milos Obilic Gold Medal for Courage, which is awarded for actions where personal courage comes to the fore.
"You obeyed your country, even when you did not agree with its decisions, (now) you did what your heart desired and you behaved most honorably when you were prevented from performing your duties," Vucic said during the ceremony at the Presidency of Serbia in Belgrade.
He stressed that they defended true European values, at least as they should be, and that is the respect of signed international agreements.
"Thank you for keeping peace and stability. Thanks for the faith. Thanks for the hope. Thank you for the love you have shown towards the Serb people, Kosovo and Metohija. Thank you for everything. Long live Serbia!," said the president.
Nenad Djuric also spoke:
"Dear President, dear brothers and sisters, allow me to thank you on behalf of the Serb people from Kosovo and Metohija, my comrade, and on my own behalf, for the awards you presented to us today. Thank you so much for instilling the greatest pride in us today and in our families, compatriots, colleagues... This would not have been possible without the support of the state of Serbia and you personally, and that is why the awards are also a pledge that our descendants will not be ashamed of us, but will follow the now well-trodden paths which lead to the pure and honest company of the great and the glorious. We dedicate these recognitions to all the children in Kosovo and Metohija who just want to enjoy freedom and fun... Long live Serbia!"
Asked what the future holds for the decorated captains Nenad Djuric and Aleksandar Filipovic from Northern Kosovo and Metohija, who took off the uniforms of the so-called Kosovo police because of Albin Kurti's terror, the president said:
"Their future will be great, they won't retire and they won't be on the street, they will work in the bodies of the Serbian state... Serbia cares for its people, and that also applies to the 3,500 of those in Kosovo and Metohija who stood up like they did," said President Vucic, adding that the people down there know very well that he knows how they live, and what sort of hardships they are facing.
