A village near Pirot looks like a movie backdrop: Slavinja's natural phenomenon delights tourists
Although the number of inhabitants in the village is decreasing every year, Slavinja is perfect for enjoying the natural beauty that surrounds it
About 30 kilometers from Pirot, between Stara Mountain and Vidlic is the village of Slavinja, one of the many in Serbia which year after year has fewer and fewer inhabitants.
Here, it's lively only during the summer, when people eager to enjoy untouched nature flock to the Stara Mountain (Stara Planian) and, enchanted by the beauty of Slavinja, decide to explore the surroundings.
And the surroundings, thanks to natural phenomena and objects that are at least a century old, are extraordinary and captivating at first glance.
The drinking water sources surrounding Slavinja are no less beautiful than the Rosomacka River canyon. The layered stone edges that make up the canyon, with whirlpools that resemble pots and where the water sparkles and bubbles, testify to the millions of years of nature's work that created a unique masterpiece in this part of Serbia.
Rural tourism, unfortunately, is not developed here, but when you want to enjoy natural treasures of Slavinja, you can find accommodation in Visocka Rzana, only 4 kilometers away from the village, which looks like a movie set.
