Serbian football player Bojan Djurdjic, born in Sombor, who also holds the passport of Bosnia and Herzegovina, has hit the sports news headlines in the Czech Republic, where he is accused of involvement in a serious incident during Varnsdorf's training session.

According to the Czech media, he attacked goalkeeper coach Radek Porcal with a knife for reasons and motives that have yet to be determined. An investigation should provide a clearer picture in the coming days.

Upon arriving at the scene of the incident, the police established the facts and arrested the Serbian footballer, who has been in custody ever since.

"I would not like to make any comment now until the police speak, but our player has disappointed me. If everything turns out to be true, him returning here is out of the question," Varnsdorf's owner Vlastimil Gabriel said after the incident, according to Denik.

A spokeswoman for the police in Decin made an official statement for the media regarding this event.

"The police received a report about an attack at the stadium in Varnsdorf. Yesterday a little after ten o'clock in the morning, after a verbal and physical confrontation between one of the football players and a coach, the player threatened the coach with a knife. The police officers arrested the suspect on the spot and then placed him in a police cell. The circumstances of the entire case are being investigated. Because this is the initial phase of the investigation and because of ongoing activities, we are unable to provide further information," said the police.

Djordjic spent a good part of his career in the Czech Republic, he also played for top tier clubs Opava and Liberec and scored two goals in the elite national competition.

He is currently Wansdorf's top scorer with six goals, however, at the time of the incident, he was injured and working separately from the team. The team's first coach, Miroslav Holenak, left him out of the lineup for the Cup match against Slovacko (Partizan Belgrade rivals in Europa League) in what turned out to be a 6-0 defeat, and Djordjic did not play against Taborski in the league game, either.

Czech media say that Holenak removed Djordjic from the team, but he then attacked the goalkeeper coach, not the head coach.
