Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic and his family have founded a winery in Sumadija, near Lipovac, between Arandjelovac and Topola, and the first wines from this new winery will soon be on sale.

The Djokovic wines were presented today in the Wine & Pleasure wine store, namely the first two labels - Djokovic Chardonnay 2020 and Djokovic Syrah 2020, the Vino i Fino portal reports.

Goran Djokovic, Novak's uncle and the director of the winery, said that they started their wine adventure seven years ago.

"There are many challenges, but we try to achieve the maximum in this business, as in everything. Not even Novak's every hit with the racket is perfect, but he is still the best in the world," says Goran Djokovic.

The winery's oenologist Mladen Dragojlovic spoke about terroir, vineyards and wines, saying that the vineyards of the Djokovic family are located on one of the most attractive grounds in Serbia, on red soil rich in stone, marl and lime, with large pieces of white stone.

Syrah is planted in places with more stones, while Chardonnay is planted on the limestone part. The vineyard covers six hectares - three with white varieties and three with red ones.

A small amount of Viognier grapes are also grown, which are added as a "spice" to the Chardonnay.
