We bumped into Red Star fans in central Budapest: "We're no hooligans..."
Red Star will have the support of around 1,000 of its most ardent traveling fans
Red Star (Crvena Zvezda) Belgrade footballers will have the support of around 1,000 of the club's most passionate fans against Ferencvaros tonight, and two Belgraders - Dragan and Igor - arrived in Budapest in the early hours of the morning. They say they never miss an opportunity to support their beloved club.
They follow the club wherever it plays, regardless of whether it's a European game or one played in the domestic championship. Today in central Budapest, they were easy to recognize as Red Star fans because of the symbols they wore.
"This is a disease for which there is no cure," they said of their fandom, then they also referred to a recent statement issued by Red Star fans to avoid wearing symbols for this game:
"We are no hooligans, we are family men who just love Red Star. We've never caused problems, nor will we, and we have been to Athens, Naples and other cities."
When asked how they expect the game to go, they quickly replied:
"No euphoria, a draw at the minimum. In our hearts we hope to win. It's up to Red Star here, if we play as we should then there will be no problem," said one of the fans, while the other added:
"God willing, it will be 0-1, then (head coach) Milojevic will come up with sime tactics and keep that result."
Red Star is playing against Ferencvaros in the 4th round of Europa League, having beaten the Hungarian club at home last week 4-1. The game starts at 21:00, and head coach Miloc Milojevic said earlier that his squad will not play for a draw.
