"Father murdered his 2-year-old the day he got custody": What happened in Vrsac before Marko's horrific crime
"This is a great tragedy, the little girl was a sweet, good child," says a relative of the murdered toddler
A shocking crime happened yesterday in Vrsac, northeastern Serbia.
Marko B. (35) drowned his 2-year-old daughter in a bowl of water, and then hanged himself. He announced the murder and suicide in a message sent to his wife Suzana, the mother of the child.
The apartment in front of which the crime took place was sealed today. Neighbors were speechless with pain and grief.
Telegraf's reporters spoke with the aunt of the murdered child's mother. She claims that "no one could have predicted" the tragedy that befell them.
"He worked in the municipal administration, and yesterday he received a decision giving him custody of the child. He tormented Suzana, who is the child's mother, he beat and harassed her. She kept silent about it until he put a knife to her throat. Otherwise, he behaved normally, he didn't smoke, he wasn't an alcoholic, but he was obviously crazy," says the aunt of the victim's mother, adding:
"We saw the child two months ago for the first time, no one was allowed to see her, supposedly because of Covid. Even her (the mother's) parents, my brother and sister-in-law could not see the child. This is a great tragedy, the little girl was a sweet, good child," the woman told Telegraf.rs.
The bodies of the father and of the daughter he murdered have been transported to the hospital for post mortems.
"The child's mother was sitting on the stairs, screaming, 'Let me see my child!'," eyewitnesses recount the scene as the crime was unfolding yesterday.
Suzana had reported Marko for domestic violence and that was the main reason she wanted to divorce him.
