Day of Serb Unity marked: Presidency, Government HQ and Old Palace draped in Serbian flag colors
Belgrade, but also other cities in Serbia, as well as places in the Serb Republic (Republika Srpska, RS), are decorated with the flags of Serbia and of the RS
The monumental presidency building in Andricev Venac in Belgrade, where the most important meetings are being held for more than half a century, is today decorated in the colors of the Serbian flag - red, blue, and white - as are the Government HQ and the Old Palace. This was done to mark Day of Serb Unity, Freedom and the National Flag.
Today, Serbia and the Serb Republic celebrate a joint holiday - Day of Serb Unity, Freedom and the National Flag.
This day, September 15, was chosen to commemorate the Salonica Front breakthrough in 1918.
The goal of establishing this holiday was, above all, to strengthen unity between the Serb people in Serbia and in the RS, but also to strengthen the cult of the national flag.
Belgrade and other cities in Serbia, as well as places in the Serb Republic, are decorated with the flags of Serbia and of the RS.
Day of Serb Unity, Freedom and the National Flag was celebrated for the first time last year on Sava Square in Belgrade near the monument to Grand Prince Stefan Nemanja.
The central event marking the holiday today is being held in Bijeljina, in the presence of officials from Serbia and the RS.
