Vice-president of the Freedom and Justice Party (SSP) Borko Stefanovic told journalists in the Serbian Assembly today that the parliamentary group "Ujedinjeni" will not support the report on Kosovo and Metohija presented today by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.

Before the beginning of the session dedicated to Kosovo and Metohija, Stefanovic said that the report "confirms that political consensus has not been reached on the most important state issue in the country."

He believes that it is a report on a ten-year "backing off" of the authorities and the violation of agreements by Albanian authorities (in Kosovo), and assessed that it does not point to any path to the future.

He reiterated that "Ujedinjeni" advocates for the formation of a special parliamentary body made up of representatives of all parliamentary groups, as well as all important organizations and institutions in the country, which would have the task of formulating a platform for negotiations with Pristina within 30 days.

Stefanovic also said that the Kosovo issue must be above all partisan differences and that a solution must be based on the Constitution of Serbia and UN Security Council Resolution 1244.

Stefanovic added that negotiations with Pristina have no alternative, until a solution is found, and that the only thing that cannot be negotiated is (Serbia) accepting unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo.

When asked by journalists about EuroPride, Stefanovic stressed that it is a matter of rights and that everyone has the right to protest and freedom of movement and assembly.

"This is why we believe that EuroPride should be held. It's a question of basic human rights that do not endanger anyone, and it is very important to one group of our population that is threatened," said Stefanovic.
