The Court of Appeal has rejected the appeal of the former Kosovo president and leader of the so-called KLA, Hashim Thaci, filed against the decision of the judge for preliminary proceedings which ordered the extension of his detention, it was announced on the website of the Specialist Chambers ("special court for KLA crimes").

In its explanation, the Chambers state that the reasons for Thaci's detention still stand, as he is a flight risk, may interfere with the proceedings, and there is also the risk of further crimes being committed.

On April 29, the Specialist Prosecutor's Office submitted an amended indictment against Thaci, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi, accusing them of committing war crimes in Gnjilane, Budakovo and Semetiste.

They have been in custody in The Hague since November 2020.
