Serbian PM Brnabic meets with US Ambassador Hill: "Preserving regional peace and stability a key priority"
Ambassador Hill assessed that the continuation of talks is the only way to resolve open issues and stressed that the US strongly supports the dialogue mediated by the European Union
Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic spoke today with US Ambassador to Serbia Christopher Hill about bilateral relations between the two countries, the situation in the region, the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, as well as cooperation in the field of energy.
The prime minister stressed that preserving peace and stability in the region is one of the key priorities and that Serbia remains committed to investing additional efforts in order to develop regional relations in all areas. According to the prime minister, Serbia also provides firm support to regional cooperation through the Open Balkan initiative, which has proven to be an effective framework for solving issues important to our citizens.
Speaking about the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, Brnabic said she believes that a new round on August 18 in Brussels will be constructive, especially in light of the current situation and Pristina's unilateral moves.
Ambassador Hill assessed that the continuation of talks is the only way to resolve open issues and stressed that the US strongly supports the dialogue mediated by the European Union.
The interlocutors said that there is great potential for cooperation in the field of energy, above all when it comes to renewable energy projects. Prime Minister Brnabic assessed that energy security is a topic of extreme importance for Serbia and that it is necessary to make a new step towards energy transition and construction of new energy capacities, and that in this sense Serbia sees the potential for cooperation with the US.
