Top destinations in Serbia: Kopaonik and in Vrnjacka Banja had most overnight stays in first 6 months

Most tourists in the first half of this year decided to stay overnight on Kopaonik, Vrnjacka Banja and Zlatibor, while the capital is the most visited city in Serbia, according to data from the Statistical Office.
Tourists showed the greatest interest in destinations in Sumadija and Western Serbia, where more than two million domestic and foreign tourists decided to stay overnight during the first six months.
When it comes to spa resorts in Serbia, Vrnjacka Banja tops the list by the number of visits - 88,913 tourists went there in the January-June period, while 272,514 overnight stays were recorded in this spa during that period.
Sokobanja had 198,184 overnight stays, Vrdnik 83,140, and Koviljaca 68,139.
Banja Palic with 55,249 overnight stays and Lukovacka Banja with 67,788 proved to be popular destinations for overnight stays in the first half of the year.
Niska and Vranjska, as well as Gamzigradska spas were the least popular in the first six month, both for domestic and foreign tourists.
When it comes to the most visited mountain in Serbia in June it was Zlatibor, visited by 14,265 tourists in that month, while there were 8,587 arrivals on Kopaonik at the same time, reports Tanjug.
By the number of overnight stays in the first six months, Kopaonik was the most attractive mountain in Serbia with 351,563, followed by Zlatibor (271,986), and Tara (88,217).
When it comes to arrivals and overnight stays, the least visited mountains were Rudnik and Golija.
The capital is certainly the most visited city in our country with more than 1.3 million overnight stays, while Novi Sad with 249,268 and Nis with 114,738 follow.
687,159 foreign tourists visited our country in the January-June period, while the number of nights spent by foreigners in Serbia in that period was 2,044,069.
Most tourists come to Serbia from Bosnia and Herzegovina, and a large number also arrive from Russia, North Macedonia, and Turkey.
