Serbian monastery Visoki Decani: KFOR's protection is still necessary
The government in Pristina behaves as if this is an ethnically pure Albanian land - a statement said
The Serbian Orthodox Monastery of Visoki Decani announced that it is necessary for KFOR soldiers to continue guarding it because of attacks perpetrated by Albanian extremists.
The monastery reacted to Minister of Culture of Pristina's provisional institutions Hajrula Ceku saying that the shrine no longer needs the protection of KFOR soldiers.
"(Protection is needed) due to four armed attacks by Kosovo/Albanian extremists, ISIS graffiti on our walls, arrest of an Albanian armed group in 2016 at our gate, Kosovo government's disrespect of law and court ruling" the monastery said.
The statement posted on Twitter added that the presence of KFOR is needed due to political, legal and security instability for non-Albanian citizens in Kosovo and Metohija.
The government in Pristina behavies as if this is territory is an ethnic Albanian land, it continued.
"Decani Monastery is exposed to frequent denial of our identity, legal rights and media hate speech. So long as our life in Kosovo is endangered (as recognized by UNESCO, EuropaNostra and other international organizations' reports) we need protection, both institutional and security by KFOR," the monastery concluded.
