Brnabic: Relations between Serbia and Turkey are at the highest level

In conversation with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said that bilateral relations between our two countries are characterized by intensive political dialogue and strong economic cooperation, especially through investments by Turkish companies and participation in various infrastructural projects in Serbia.

The prime minister stressed that the current level of bilateral relations between Serbia and Turkey is at its highest and that it is important that economic cooperation between the two countries grows.

Brnabic expressed her gratitude for the great support that the Turkish government and the president provide to investors who want to invest in Serbia, especially for those who participate in less developed parts of Serbia.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu assessed that the exceptional political dialogue between Serbian and Turkish officials is to be credited for relations between our countries and announced that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will soon visit Serbia and the region.

The Turkish head of diplomacy confirmed that Turkish companies are satisfied with doing business in Serbia and currently employ around 10,000 Serbian workers.

Turkish companies, he added, are working on important road infrastructure projects as well, above all when it comes to the Belgrade-Sarajevo-Belgrade highway.

Stating that Serbia is a key country for the stability of the region, Minister Cavusoglu pointed out that Turkey is ready to provide all possible assistance to cooperation in the region, while building road infrastructure is the basis for its further development.

It was pointed out the two countries have already signed agreements on cooperation in many areas, and there is an upcoming agreement that will enable citizens of Serbia and Turkey to travel to both countries with only their ID cards, which will encourage development of economic relations and tourism.

Brnabic stressed that cooperation with Turkey in the field of energy and in the project of construction and exploitation of Turkish Stream, which enables the supply of gas to Serbia and the region, is extremely important for Serbia.

She said that Serbia attaches great importance to the work of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) and activities related to restoration of cultural and historical monuments in Serbia, which gives a strong impetus to strengthening ties between the two countries, the government announced.
