Fertile valleys, steep gorges and a breathtaking waterfall: Resava is a perfect weekend getaway

Between the Velika Morava River and the slopes of the Kucaj mountains lies the area of Resava, which is crossed by the river of the same name and which is attractive for tourists for several reasons

One of the most attractive tourist parts of Serbia - Gornja Resava - is located in the basin of the Resava River, a little more than a hundred kilometers from Belgrade.

In addition to the medieval monastery Manasija, the most important shrine that belongs to the so-called Morava school, impressive nature attracts great attention of tourists.

The Manasija gorge, nine kilometers long, is located in the upper course of the River Resava, which was named after the word for "fringes" in Serbian, i.e., branches that line up the river and descend toward it. The path through the gorge is winding, bordered by steep rocks on which rare and ancient plant species grow.

Along the course of the upper basin of the Resava, valleys and lower gorges alternate, and the impressive waterfall Lisine is located on the River Vrelo, one of the tributaries of the Resava.

On the other hand, in Donja Resava, whose center is the town of Svilajnac, nature is less picturesque than in the upper river basin, but precisely because of the diversity of the terrain in a relatively small area, this part of Serbia captivates with its beauty.

Namely, from the village of Dvoriste, the river flows towards the confluence with the Velika Morava through a fertile plain, making this part of Serbia in some parts in a way similar to the northern province of Vojvodina.
