President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic says that he received official information that so-called Kosovo has applied for membership in the Council of Europe.

He said that by doing so, Pristina showed that it brutally violated and trampled on the Washington Agreement, after ten years of trampling on the Brussels Agreement, as well as UN Security Council Resolution 1244.

"We will do our best to show that we can fight, to protect our country, Pristina's mentors are much stronger, this game is led by key Western countries, and we are a small freedom-loving country that is preserving its sovereignty and its right to decide," said Vucic.

The president of Serbia stressed that there will be "no withdrawal and no surrender to blackmail, they will do everything to make us recognize so-called Kosovo, and it's up to us to protect our country."

"So-called Kosovo has received support from the United States for joining Partnership for Peace, all that is not worth too much to them if they don't get the green light from Serbia," the president added.

Vucic also said that "this has an additional effect on relations in the region," wondering "who needs that and who persuaded Pristina to submit this initiative," and adding that "our response must be smart and peaceful, to preserve stability."
