Suspect arrested for murder of Croatian handball player in North Macedonia
North Macedonian police have arrested a young man suspected of beating the athlete to death
After several days of searching, Angelo Gorgievski, the first suspect in the murder of Croatian handball player Denis Tot, has been arrested.
This information was confirmed for Vecernji List by the Croatian ambassador to North Macedonia, Nives Tiganj.
"The minister called me and confirmed that he has been arrested and once again expressed regret over this case," said Tiganj.
Gorgievski was born in Maribor, Slovenia, and in June 2016 he had a serious traffic accident in the city center when he crashed into five parked cars with his Fiat Punto and fled, but was soon caught by the police.
At the time, the Maribor police started searching for a ring of drug dealers, including Gorgievski, and in October of the same year, the police discovered a laboratory producing synthetic drugs. Among other things, they were making GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyrate), also known as the rape drug.
Amphetamines and marijuana were also seized in the laboratory.
