Shortly after 6 pm yesterday, a serious traffic accident occurred in Obrenovac. The driver of a BMW, 31-year-old M.K., struck two women on the sidewalk with his car, after which he was arrested. The police added in a statement that one of the women was killed while the other was seriously injured.
Eyewitnesses of this tragedy say that a loud bang was heard in Djackog Bataljona street, where the Jovan Jovanovic Zmaj school is located.
"I heard a bang, I approached, because I feared, since the school is located here - I was feared that children might have gotten hurt, and then I saw two women lying on the ground. The driver got out of the car, he ended up in the opposite direction. As far as I know, he was trying to drive around another car, but lost control. He got out of the car and tried to approach the women, but he was severely drunk. An ambulance came very, very quickly as did the firefighters, because sparks were flying out of his car. The women were hospitalized, unfortunately one passed away very quickly, her name was Jelena. The second victim is in the hospital, they say she got seriously injured. I don't know what will happen to him, otherwise there is a problem with aggressive drivers. There is often traffic police by the kindergarten where the acccident happened. They literally left 10 minutes before it happened. It's like a race track here at night," eyewitnesses of the horrible traffic accident recounted what happened yesterday.
