Teacher in German School in Belgrade suspended after 2 reports of sexual harassment: Prosecution investigates
They claim that the teacher whose behavior the students complained about will not return to classes until the end of the school year, and that his engagement will end at the end of the school year
The First Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade has ordered the Education Inspectorate of the Serbian Ministry of Education to collect the necessary information regarding the accusations of sexual harassment of underage students by a teacher in the German School in Belgrade.
In the meantime, the teacher has been suspended, this institution has confirmed for Telegraf.rs.
According to a statement issued by the German School, they have been actively involved since learning about the complaints against one of the teachers concerning "inappropriate looks" directed at a number of students. The school takes these accusations most seriously, and shows zero tolerance for any forms of inadmissible behavior towards its students.
"In dealing with this event so far, a number of measures have been taken that our students and parents know about, with whom we are actively working. Among other things, the school has formed a special team consisting of school representatives and parents' representatives. The goal of forming the team is to establish the facts related to this case, and that process is underway," it has been announced.
They claim that the teacher whose behavior the students complained about will not return to classes until the end of the school year, and that his engagement will end at the end of the school year.
"Bearing in mind that in this case we are talking about minors, the school did not want to speak to the media so far, trying to protect the involved students from possible inconveniences related to the interest shown by the public. That is why we appeal on the media to take into account the interest of the minors, our students, in their reports."
The First Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade has opened a case regarding an article published in the weekly Vreme on March 10 and sent a request for providing the necessary information to the Education Inspectorate of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Supervision, in order to determine whether there is suspicion that the criminal offense of sexual harassment under Article 182a of the Criminal Cod has been committed. This concerns the events in the German School in Belgrade, and as the weekly reported, several students said that a teacher in that institution gave them strange looks.
