Memorial in Belgrade dedicated to bombing victim, 3-year-old Milica Rakic, repaired
It was vandalized in mid-February
A bust dedicated to toddler Milica Rakic, which was vandalized in mid-February, and which reminds passers-by in Tasmajdan, Belgrade of the bloody 1999, has been returned to its place. The Jeremic foundry carried out the reconstruction.
President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic laid a flower in the early morning hours. He also paid the symbolic price of the reconstruction of the memorial.
The bust pulled out from the memorial was found in the grass next to it.
This was the third time that the monument to Milica Rakic has been desecrated since 2000, when it was erected.
Milica Rakic died on April 17, 1999, in her family house in Batajnica, during the NATO bombing. She was only 3 years old when a shrapnel hit and killed her as she was sitting on a potty.
