Serbian Council for National Security to meet for an urgent session
The meeting will be held on Monday starting 10 am, it was confirmed on Sunday for Telegraf from a source close to the state leadership of Serbia
President Aleksandar Vucic has convened an emergency session of the Council for National Security.
The meeting will be held on Monday starting 10 am, it was confirmed on Sunday for Telegraf from a source close to the state leadership of Serbia.
The situation in Eastern Europe and the Western Balkans will be discussed.
Speaking about how the events between Russia and Ukraine will affect Serbia, the president stated earlier that our position on that issue is principled.
He also commented on the situation in Ukraine, but alsoon statements made by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
"I would not like to make the position of Serbia worse. I consider Olaf Scholz to be a serious politician, but I am surprised by his statement that 'NATO intervened in 1999 (by attacking Serbia) to prevent genocide in Kosovo'. Unlike him, Angela Merkel called it a 'humanitarian catastrophe'. I never agreed with her either. There was neither genocide nor a humanitarian catastrophe in Kosovo and Metohija. It bothers them in the West that Putin is using all their weaknesses and the same arguments that NATO used during its aggression against the Serbians. When Kamala Harris says, 'do not touch national borders', then everyone wants to forget about Serbia. Everyone wants to forget how they robbed Serbians of their territories and changed the borders of Serbia," said Vucic and added that Serbia supports Ukraine's territorial integrity.
He said that he will ask Russia for additional information about the recruitment of Albanians from Kosovo and Metohija to fight against the Russians in Donbass.
"Lavrov presents only well-verified information. The head of all Russian (security) services, Patrushev, will visit Serbia in the next few days," Vucic told Tanjug.
