The owner of the company Elita Gradnja d.o.o. Belgrade, Vojkan Krstic, who is also the head of the Rescue Center of Serbia (Spasilacki Centar Srbije), was arrested today for machinations involving fictitiously invoiced contracts concerning waste disposal, that caused damages to three Belgrade municipalities in the amount of around 10 million dinars.

Krstic and six other people, including municipal officials, have been arrested in an operation carried out by members of the Interior Ministry, coordinated by the Special Department for Suppression of Corruption of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade.

Searches have been conducted in several locations in Belgrade, as well as in Jajinci, where the building of the Rescue Center of Serbia is located, which eyewitnesses say looks more like an army barracks and is close to the family home of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic's parents.

Those arrested will be detained for up to 48 hours, after which they willbe brought to the prosecutor's office for questioning.

More details about this operation are expected to be announced by the Interior Ministry of Serbia (MUP).

Krstic is known to investors and owners of construction companies in Belgrade, who have repeatedly accused him of blackmailing them, demanding that they transport rubble and waste from construction sites to his illegal landfills, where he earns large sums of money.
