Because of the extremely steep rocks, it is not recommended to go there without a guide

The Milesevka River canyon is located in the territory of the municipality of Prijepolje, between the massifs of the mountains Zlatar and Jadovnik.

This part of Serbia, which has been declared a Special Nature Reserve - a protected area of the first category of exceptional national importance - covers 297 hectares.

The canyon itself is 24 kilometers long and starts near the village of Milosev Do, to end near the Mileseva monastery.

A five-kilometer-long hiking trail passes through the canyon reserve, in its most picturesque part. The depth of the abyss in some areas reaches 300 meters, so it is not recommended to visit this enchanting wilderness on your own.

But the fact that the human eye has something to see and enjoy here cannot be disputed. On the contrary!

Pancic spruces grow above the steep riverbed. There are also yew, walnut, hornbeam, and chestnut trees, along with more than 300 other plant species which, fused with the massive rocks that plunge towards the river, remind us that there is no better artist than nature.
