Police cut drug smuggling ring from Albania to Serbia: 300 kilos seized in Veliki Trnovac
The suspects have been detained for up to 48 hours
Members of the Anti-Drug Service, in cooperation with the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Nis, arrested five people on suspicion that they committed the crime of unauthorized production and distribution of narcotics. E.N. (50), M.A. (35), F.L. (29), B.S. (40) and A.T. (69) have been arrested.
The suspects were arrested while trying to hand over marijuana, which they transported by van on the road between Veliki Trnovac and the village of Turija, and during the search of the premises and vehicles they used, 87 packages of the drug were found, prepared for further sale.
The suspects have been detained for up to 48 hours, after which they will be brought to the competent prosecutor's office within the legal deadline.
Minister of Internal Affairs Aleksandar Vulin today spoke with members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Anti-Drug Service, who cut another ring of marijuana smuggling from Albania to Serbia and seized 300 kilograms of this drug in the territory of Veliki Trnovec.
Minister Vulin congratulated the members of the Anti-Drug Service on yet another successful drug seizure operation and stressed that the Serbian police in this way demonstrated that the law is implemented and applied in every place and every part of Serbia.
"Members of the Anti-Drug Service cut another chain of drug trafficking by seizing 300 kilograms of marijuana in Veliki Trnovac and by arresting drug dealers. With this successful operation of drug seizure in Veliki Trnovac, the Serbian police, once again, showed that there is no place, town or village in Serbia where the law is not applied and implemented. The Serbian police have shown that the law is in force in every part of our country and that no one will be able to bypass and avoid our laws," Minister Vulin stressed.
"Serbia is not and will not be a market for marijuana, nor any other drug. Serbia is not and will not be a safe place to sell narcotics or a safe place for their further distribution. This seizure has dealt another blow to the drug mafia, during which the Serbian police showed how to stand in the way of those who would like to poison our children," said Interior Minister Aleksandar Vulin.
"President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic gave us a clear task to deal with the drug mafia. We are fulfill this task through the daily, persistent struggle. We are fighting for a stable, secure and strong Serbia, for our children to have a carefree future. Our state especially appreciates the work of professional and honorable police officers, who fight against drug trafficking every day, risking their own lives," said Minister Vulin, stressing that this operation is another victory and great success of the Serbian police in the fight against narcotics.
