Horror in Sombor: Man murders wife and 2 daughters, sets fire to house, hangs himself

The scene was horrific, say neighbors

Four bodies were found in a burning house in Sime Solaje Street in Sombor today. The charred remains of three victims were found inside the house, while a fourth victims was discovered hanging from a wooden beam. 

Acording to the Interior Ministry (MUP), this is a case of triple murder and suicide.

Telegraf.rs has leared from MUP that the tragedy occurred in a family home, when a man killed his wife and daughters, set fire to the house, and then hanged himself. The identity of the fourth victims was at first unknown, but reports now say it is the killer's second daughter.

According to locals, the man, who was released from prison on December24 and had a restraining order because of a previous case domestic violence, slit the throat of his wife, murdered his two daughters,  threw a hand grenade at the house, and then took his own life.

One child has survived - a son, who is a university student. The two girls were younger, attending elementary and high school, respectively.

The Ministry of the Interior of Serbia told Telegraf.rs earlier only that the fire had been localized.

The fire was extinguished by 10 firefighters who used 3 firetrucks.

Investigative and ambulance crews are on the scene.

The fire broke out in Sime Solaje Street in a house owned by Zdravko Goranovic (b. 1962). A house of about 150 square meters was on fire.
