Vucic: Drug used in treatment of Covid has arrived in Serbia

- The medicine saves lives, prevents mortality in a huge percentage - said Vucic

President Aleksandar Vucic announced today that a drug used in the treatment of Covid, manufactured by the US company MSD, has arrived in Serbia.

"What I'm holding in my hand is a new medicine. These are tablets, and one box is enough for one patient. We have enough for 11,500 people, and there will be enough for 50,000 people," said Vucic in a video address published on the Instagram account "buducnostsrbijeav."

He explained that the drug will help people in the first five days after they test positive, and is intended primarily for those most at risk: the obese, diabetics and cardiovascular patients.

"The medicine saves lives, prevents mortality in a huge percentage," said Vucic.

The president also announced that the drug developed by Pfizer is expected in the first quarter of next year.

"These are more and more tablets, and this shows our care for people," said Vucic and asked all doctors in Serbia to use theMSD  medicine that has arrived in the country.

"It was bought in the United States, while in Europe, other than us, it has only been purchased by Denmark, Lithuania and Slovenia. People's lives and health are priceless," Vucic said.
