Serbian foreign minister with new Bahraini ambassador: "Great potential for developing cooperation"
Selakovic expressed special gratitude for the fact that Bahrain sent more than 67.5 tons of medical equipment to Serbia in January this year, including 20 ventilators, which is the largest single donation to Serbia since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic
Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Selakovic spoke today with Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain Ahmed Al-Saati, and pointed out that there are significant opportunities for improving economic cooperation between the two countries.
Selakovic expressed satisfaction with the level of relations between the two countries and the fact that in the previous period, thanks to the visit of President Aleksandar Vucic to Bahrain, but also frequent meetings of officials on the sidelines of multilateral gatherings, a quality and meaningful political dialogue has been established.
In light of that, the minister pointed out that regular high-level visits are of great importance for further improvement of bilateral relations, especially in the field of economy where there are great untapped potentials, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
According to him, there are significant opportunities for improving economic cooperation, because the current trade exchange is still modest, given the capabilities of the two economies.
Selakovic informed his interlocutor about Serbia's economic results in the past seven years, stressing that our country is, among other things, absolute regional leader in attracting foreign investments.
Selakovic expressed special gratitude for the fact that Bahrain sent more than 67.5 tons of medical equipment to Serbia in January this year, including 20 ventilators, which is the largest single donation to Serbia since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic.
Selakovic added that today, following this and similar examples, Serbia is trying to stand in solidarity and help friendly countries, including the countries in the Middle East, in line with its capabilities.
The minister thanked Ambassador Al-Saati, who covers Serbia on a non-residential basis from Moscow, for leading the Bahraini delegation at a commemorative gathering marking the 60th anniversary of the First Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement, held in Belgrade in October.
