EU Office head: Pristina authorities should return Visoki Decani property according to court ruling
Tolerance and mutual respect are key to a multi-ethnic and democratic society. I call on Kosovo government to implement Constitutional Court judgment. The property rights of the monastery should be respected - wrote Tomas Szunyog
Tomas Szunyog, the head of the EU Office in Pristina, called on the provisional institutions in the southern Serbian province to implement the decision of the Kosovo Constitutional Court and return the property to the Visoki Decani monastery.
Szunyog, who was visiting Visoki Decani, wrote on Twitter that the property rights of the monastery should be respected.
"I visited Visoki Decani monastery two days ago. Tolerance and mutual respect are key to a multi-ethnic and democratic society. I call on Kosovo government to implement Constitutional Court judgment. The property rights of the monastery should be respected ," wrote Szunyog.
In May 2016, the court concluded a dispute in favor of Visoki Decani and confirmed this medieval Serbia Orthodox monastery's ownership over 24 hectares of land.
