Big police operation: 520 kilos of marijuana seized in Nis. The shipment arrived from Kosovo

Minister Vulin stressed that every seizure of narcotics is a great success and a great victory for the police

Members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Criminal Police Directorate, in cooperation with the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Nis, arrested one person on suspicion that they committed the crime of unauthorized production and distribution of narcotics and seized about 520 kilograms of marijuana.

As they stopped a cargo vehicle in Nis driven by N.I. (45), police officers searched it and found 134 packages of marijuana, which, it is suspected, had previously arrived to the autonomous province of Kosovo and Metohija from Albania and were intended for further sale in Serbia. The suspect N.I. has been detained for up to 48 hours and he will be brought before the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Nis, along with a criminal complaint.

Minister of Internal Affairs Aleksandar Vulin today held a meeting with the management of the Criminal Police Directorate (UKP) and congratulated them on the successfully conducted operation of seizing 520 kilograms of marijuana.

"The fierce battle of the Ministry of Internal Affairs with drug dealers continues, whether Serbia is a transit country or the final destination for the sale of narcotics, we will arrest anyone who imports and sells drugs in our country with the same determination. Serbia is not and will not be a safe place to sell narcotics or a safe place for their further distribution. Serbia will never be a safe place for drug dealers and drug trafficking," Vulin said during a meeting where chiefs and members of the UKP reported on all the details of the operation of seizing 520 kilograms of marijuana, the Ministry of the Interior announced.

Minister Vulin stressed that every seizure of narcotics is a great success and a great victory for the police.

The minister pointed out that the police have shown their determination to deal with the drug trade with good results achieved over the past year, when they seized more than eight tons of narcotics and discovered more than 40 illegal marijuana cultivation laboratories.

"While Aleksandar Vucic is the president of Serbia, while I am the minister of the interior, Serbia will not legalize marijuana and I sincerely advocate in favor of sanctioning and treating the sale of drugs to minors as attempted murder," said Interior Minister Aleksandar Vulin.
