This morning at around 5:20 am an SP Lasta-Srem bus burned down in the center of Vojka. The bus was used for transporting passengers on the Krnjesevci-Stara Pazova route.

The bus burned down 200 meters before a bus stop in the center of the village, where the largest group of passengers usually boards it, so, fortunately, no one was injured. Eyewitnesses say that the driver reacted quickly and got out as soon as smoke started coming out of the engine in the back of the vehicle, reports RTV Stara Pazova.

"The driver, P.A., reacted in a timely manner and fortunately was not injured. He immediately returned home and as we found out, is feeling well," employees in Lasta's garage in Stara Pazova have told Blic.

They added that the bus was manufactured in 2010 and had passed the technical checks. It is assumed that the wiring caught on fire.

"The accident happened when the bus left the garage in Krnjesevci, headed for the starting station. In the center of Vojka, the driver noticed that something was wrong, he turned the bus back and at that moment saw the smoke. He tried to put out the fire using two fire extinguishers but without success. The vehicle burned down completely," said Lasta's representatives.

The fire was extinguished by the fire brigade in Stara Pazova, and the bus was transported to the Lasta's garage in Stara Pazova.

According to this transportation company, further investigation will determine the exact cause of the accident.
