President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic on Monday received an official invitation from the White House to participate in the Summit for Democracy, which is being organized by US president Joseph Biden, reports Blic.

In the invitation, on behalf of the American people, Biden sent "best wishes" to President Vucic and the people of Serbia.

"We recognize and appreciate your partnership in working to build democratic human rights respecting societies that allow all citizens to thrive. In a moment of significant challenges and enormous opportunity, it is more important than ever for democracies to prove that we can deliver for the needs of our people and address global challenges," the invitation, which Biden signed, is quoted.

As can be seen in a photo of the invitation published by Blic, Biden also stated that he was pleased to invite Vucic to participate in the virtual Summit for Democracy, which will be held on December 9 and 10.

"I am inviting heads of state and government, other government leaders and voices from the business and non-governmental communities to join me in taking action to strengthen democracy and defend against authoritarianism, combat corruption and promote respect for human rights," the invitation reads.
