Kon: Medical part of HQ wants Covid passes around the clock; we will have more deaths
He said that some unrest and protests that are taking place because of the introduction of Covid passes "are not important at all at this moment"
In order to stop the epidemic, two things must go in parallel - on the one hand, Covid passes should be required around the clock, and on the other, there should be accelerated vaccination, epidemiologist and member of the Crisis HQ Predrag Kon said today.
He said that the fact that the Covid pass requirement is valid only after 10 pm "is not and will not be able to prove to be sufficient" and pointed out that without serious, more restrictive measures, there will be no sudden decline in the number of new Covid cases.
"The medical part of the Crisis HQ is asking that Covid passes be required 24 hours a day, there are no divisions at all on that issue, the entire medical part fully supports it," Kon told TV Tanjug.
He added that some unrest and protests that are taking place because of the introduction of Covid passes "are not important at all at this moment."
"We must provide our health workers with conditions to work, and at this pace, they are so overwhelmed that there will be errors and inability to schedule, delays for some non-Covid conditions. We will have the consequence of counting a larger number of deaths," Kon stressed.
Schools expected to work next week as before
"The model of work in schools next week should be implemented very similarly as before," said Predrag Kon.
He said that parents are not reporting infected children to schools, but that this is not a sufficient reason to consider switching completely to online classes.
